Battle of the Houses: Crawford vs. Van Asch - A Friendly Competition!
Term 4 sees the Christchurch Residential Students exploring teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration!
In Term 4, the residential students in Sumner, Christchurch, have been joining in for some social games and challenges in a group run by Alice Buckland of the Speech Language Therapy Team and Julia Emnas, a Speech Language Therapy student from the University of Canterbury.
Week one saw Crawford House and Van Asch House collaborating on a house flag to display proudly and compete under. The residential students shared their likes, favourite colours, and things they felt represented them to contribute to their flag designs.
Week two had the residential students challenging themselves physically, where they had to work together to turn over a blanket and towel while they were all still standing on it! They all showed a sense of fair play, and two from Van Asch House joined Crawford House to make the challenge even and fair. There was some frustration but also some joy and success!
Week three had them competing house against house in a Masterchef competition, having 45 minutes as a group to prepare any dish they felt could win over the judges!
We are excited about the feeling of community that we have seen for the houses, and best of luck to both houses in the competition!
