Lockdown Southland Hub

Emma Clarke —

During Lockdown the Southland Deaf hub discovered new ways to connect and learn together.

We came together with funny hats, favourite soft toys, and even in our pj's to ensure that our valued time to connect was not lost. The hub teachers planned fun and varied online activities that provided opportunities for our learners to engage with friends, share what was on top for them, and also supported the development of language and literacy. Kahoot! was of course a favourite for many of our learners and we were able to explore and build upon various concepts through this fun quiz game. We also enjoyed NZSL stories, scavenger hunts around our houses, and some fun memory games. We loved seeing our learners and our own whanau join in and we valued this opportunity to share learning and build relationships. Thank you to all of the hub teachers and whanau who got involved to carry on our learning through hub.
