This year, many of our students excelled in their learning. At the Hillmorton High School Merit Prize Giving Assembly, some students were presented with Merit Certificates for commendable efforts in various subjects, including Maths, Digital Technology, English, Art, Spanish and Hospitality. Some students also received Academic Bronze and Silver awards! We are very proud of our students’ hard mahi, and they are excited about their achievements. Ka rawe!

Our students recently had the opportunity to learn and excel by participating in a Barista course through the Ara Institute of Technology! Students enjoyed developing their confidence and learning how to use the coffee machine to steam milk. They used this to create their own fluffy, decorated with chocolate sauce, chocolate powder and marshmallows – delicious! They also learned how to make a delicious hot chocolate, and finally, they worked with some Barista students from Ara to create a mochaccino. All students developed their understanding of how to use the coffee machine and are keen to complete a longer taster course in 2025!

During term 4, we had a different programme for our senior students, and during week 7, they excelled in participation by designing and creating face masks that represent their identities.

Jackson, Aquila, Amishal, and Hunter excelled in their learning about statistics and were confident they would work together to share their understanding.

• Amishal excelled in designing and creating his robot in preparation for his class game “Tug of War” in Robotics this term!

• Aquila excelled in her participation in our Audiology Workshop this term. We are working with Beth, our audiologists, and connecting with students in Auckland to grow our knowledge, understanding, and independence in audiology-related topics. Aquila excelled by completing her playdough model, replicating the structure of an ear!

Students have excelled recently by participating in our Car Wash Fundraiser for Kids Can! We have been raising money and spreading awareness for this incredible charity.

We look forward to 2025 and more opportunities to Grow, Belong, Choose and Excel!
