Farewell Thomas
Thomas has been with us for the past six years and is now ready to explore the world!
Thomas arrived at Van Asch Deaf Education Centre in 2017, and as we prepare to farewell him from Ko Taku Reo we are grateful for the privilege of watching him grow into a thoughtful young man with a passion for helping others.
Thomas has achieved NCEA levels 1-3, which gives him a solid foundation for future study and work. Thomas has enjoyed learning at both the Hillmorton and Hagley provisions. In particular, he found Level 3 History really interesting this year. Thomas has also completed courses in cooking and barista training, which helped him to gain an exemplary report at his work experience placement.
Thomas values the friends that he has made at the residences and school. He has also really enjoyed all the sporting opportunities. He was recently selected for the NZ Deaf Basketball Team - a proud achievement!
Thomas is interested in social work but will take a gap year to do a work placement while he considers his options. We look forward to seeing Thomas's achievements and are confident he has a promising future.
We wish you all the best Thomas!
