At Wharenui Provision, We CHOOSE To ……..

Kerri Narby - Teacher of the Deaf —

Be creative by trying new skills – sewing, woodwork, Technology and our amazing artworks. Learning new skills gives us a bigger understanding and curiosity of what we might like to do when we’re older.

Be Role Models – Sharing our NZSL ‘language’ with our partner school. We visit a Junior class each Friday morning to share NZSL and how they can use it to communicate with us. We love to teach them NZSL.

Be focused on our learning - Finishing our work and feeling proud about it by putting our work into different displays so others can enjoy our knowledge and learn from it. Our favourite animal posters were fun to do and wonderful to share.

Be friendly and great hosts - Welcoming Hillmorton and Hagley Provisions and their whānau to our Matariki Evening. We loved having our visitors with us to share Matariki kai and activities with them. Our joint Kite was a great success.

Be understanding of our Emotions – by learning about them and how they impact our day-to-day learning if we don’t manage them in a positive and understanding way. We learned that our emotions are different in different situations and our friends sometimes show other emotions to us.
