Empowering Connections and Enriching Minds: Wellington NZSL Immersion Day School
At the NZSL Immersion Day School, connecting and learning aren't just activities; they're the heartbeat of our vibrant community, embraced wholeheartedly by every student.
This year, the Wellington NZSL Immersion Day School have connected every Tuesday to learn and communicate through NZSL. Each week, we shared a book or a short video and then engaged in lots of learning about the topics introduced in the story. We have learnt about different animals and emotions, how foods are made, how to use a map and practised our basic facts and how to describe people. We even had a visit from the Police to introduce us to all the different departments.
We have 21 students this year, five teachers taking turns and two teacher aides. We also have whānau and Communication Education Support Workers (C/ESW) visit to learn some more NZSL.
