Celebrating NZSL Week at Ko Taku Reo Early Years Whānau Centre

Lydia Heard —

We celebrated New Zealand Sign Language Week with our whānau by making butterflies and "I love you" biscuits.

This term we celebrated NZSL Week by involving the children in making very special biscuits. We completed the whole process from rolling the dough, selecting the shapes we wanted (either a butterfly or an "I love you" cutter), to baking, decorating and eating them. The make and do activity allowed each child to participate in as much of it that they wanted to, and certainly, most children wanted to eat them at the end! We added the photos to Storypark so that the children had the opportunity to tell other family members what they had done that day.
