Residential @ van Asch
On Friday 26th October, Tanesha, Lachie, Henry and Deanna travelled to Hanmer Springs to participate in the FYD Initiative Training. Here they developed skills in team building, leadership, group dynamics as well as communication and presentation styles. They all had a fabulous weekend and returned exhausted from all the new learnings (photos courtesy of Lachie who stayed awake).
I’m sure if you live in Auckland or Christchurch you will have seen the new Lime Scooters. Tanesha eagerly tried them out at Hagley and in Sumner. He managed to coax Cathy, Anne, Leanne, Steve, Kim and Charee to all have a go. Unfortunately, they were going so fast we were unable to capture the moment!! 😂
The residential hiking group had planned a 10.4km tramp on Sunday 11th November with ex RTL Michele Hendren. Unfortunately, due to the storm that hit the South Island, Michele was snowed in and the flooding made it too risky to attempt.
Instead we decided to stay locally. Along with Michael May, we walked from van Asch to Sumner: - We went up Flowers Track, down to Taylor’s Mistake then up to Godley Heads, 19.8km in total!! Lovely weather here in Christchurch, completely the opposite of what was going on inland. The original Rakaia Gorge Walkway has been postponed until December (weather permitting).
Only a few weeks of term left and lots of fun activities planned for the residences including a trip to Hanmer Springs and our annual Xmas Party. Happy Canterbury Anniversary Day for tomorrow 😀
