Hawke's Bay Gathers for a 'My Kitchen Rules' Extravaganza at Keep in Touch Day!
Students from Years 4-10 were invited to participate in our 'My Kitchen Rules' Keep in Touch (KIT) Day, where everyone was challenged to make and create the best pizza.
By Lachlan – Year 5
I went to KIT Day on Tuesday 5 September, and I made pizza; it was fun, and my favourite part was when we did the pizza competition. KIT Day was at the back of Marewa School.
First, we were there for a KIT Day because:
- K is for Keep
- I is for In, and
- T is for Touch
Keep In Touch with other Deaf kids and teachers.
The kids were from different schools, and my best friend Rawiri was there. It was so much fun.
We did baking to create our pizza. What I put on my pizza was, first, we had to make dough, and then I put some pizza sauce on it. And then I made some cheese and ham. First, I put the cheese on and then did the ham on top. I did pineapple to make two eyes and a nose. When we were making our dough, we had a little accident. One of the boys put water in, which was supposed to be oil.
After that, we went outside to play. I liked meeting new people and seeing them. I learned signs for pizza, dough, sauce, cooking, and a lot of baking and food sign language.
