Belonging to Kelston Intermediate
We've loved the start of the year, returning to school!
This year, we welcomed three new Year 7 students and Michelle Keenan, an experienced Teacher Aide, into our provision! We have formed a nice little unit supporting each other in our academic and social skills learning. We remind each other of our duties, say nice things to each other, and help keep each other on task.
We loved reconnecting with our partner school and participating in all the assemblies, Kiwi Can, Technology classes, Culture Groups classes, and TOPS (the gifted and talented program). We especially loved participating in the school's fitness program, PE, and various sports trials.
This year's Ko Taku Reo Whānau Day was amazing. We had all our whānau members attend, get to know what we have been doing in class, get to know the other students, plus get to know each other as parents of Deaf and hard of hearing children. The incredible thing is that our partner school Principal, Mr Iosia, and Deputy Principal, Mrs Laing, also joined in on our Whānau Day, got to know our little team, plus connected with our whānau! That's not all! We then got to participate and join in with the whole Kelston Intermediate Whānau Day event - this was such a lovely experience. We got so busy and engrossed in our connections that we forgot to take photos!
We genuinely love being at Kelston Intermediate School.
