A Passion for Animals by Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education NZ
Mandy Irwin - Provision Lead Teacher — September 8, 2023
For the second half of Term 3, Kelston Primary Provision has explored the concept of choice in their learning.
Students each 'Chose' an animal they were interested in, drew their animal, and conducted research around the life of their chosen animal.
They have learnt a range of skills in curriculum areas, such as:
The Arts
Using lines to follow step by step drawings and illustrate their pictures using a range of colour media.
Digital Technologies
Developing their keyboard skills to ask questions, find answers on the internet and look at videos of their animal.
Along with weaving the key competencies into this learning, students are developing a tuakana–teina relationship with each other while acquiring these new skills.
Students hope to present findings and creativity to parents, adults and peers at our art showcase.
