Students shared their inspiring stories of empowerment through choice.
We interviewed students about being able to make their 'Choices' here at the Hillmorton Provision this term. Their responses are shared here:
Lawsyn:
"I am enjoying my Athlete Development class at Hillmorton High School this term. I have been given the choice to attend the practical sessions on my own and to improve in my basketball skills."
Sean:
"I've been able to attend the class Food and Nutrition to learn how to eat and cook healthy foods. I can make food choices that are healthier and more delicious because of this."
Kadin:
"I had my first ride in a bucket truck on a recent Year 10 Science trip with my class to Connetics in Christchurch, which was scary but so much fun! I learned they can go quite high - 6.5 metres. I also learned some new things about electricity and how switches can turn on and off the electricity used in homes and schools."
Noelani:
"In Outdoor Education at Hillmorton High School: I choose to have fun, use a little bit of NZSL with my teacher, socialise with friends and have new experiences."
Lily:
"I'm in Culinary Arts this year and have been able to experiment with different ingredients! I made some pumpkin soup a few weeks back and that inspired me to make a different choice when it came to ingredients when I made my soup at home."
