We belong at Auckland Preschool by Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education NZ

We have started weekly visits between our preschool and the Enrolled school provision to help build better relationships.
We started weekly visits between preschool and our Primary provision at Kelston Primary School this term. One week, a group of five preschoolers visit the provision, and the following week, the provision school children visit us. These visits provide preschool children time to get to know their possible future teachers and how the school setting is different from preschool. The schoolchildren return to their old preschool and see all their old friends. The teachers, this is a time to share ideas and information and get to know each other so we can better prepare or support the children moving between settings.
The children really enjoy these visits. The preschool children particularly like seeing how different the school is and participating in jump jam dancing! The school children love returning to preschool and playing in the playground (it reinforces how much they have grown!)
These visits help us all feel more connected and build our sense of belonging to the wider school. We can see our future pathway or reflect on where we started and know we belong!
