Cooking up a storm by Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education NZ
Claire Buckby - Teacher Aide — November 21, 2022
Nate is a natural in the kitchen! This year she's enjoyed her time at hospitality, learning to make a range of dishes, from eggs and a 'big breakfast' to a sponge roll, scones and cakes.
Nate has learnt to make pasta from scratch, and restaurant quality gnocchi! With help from an interpreter, she is learning to read complicated recipes and to work as a team to produce outstanding food. Thursday is our favourite day at our provision as Nate always brings back the food she has made to share us.
This year Nate has also spent some time at a course at Ara Institute of Canterbury where she learnt to make delicious coffees and hot chocolates.
