Message from the Acting Executive Principal by Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education NZ
As term three ends, I am excited to introduce our theme for this newsletter: 'Choose'. This theme speaks to what makes Ko Taku Reo a dynamic and empowering environment for students, teachers, and whānau.
Choose is more than just a word; it's a powerful concept that underpins our daily experiences and decisions. It represents our freedom and responsibility to shape our paths and contribute to our community. Every decision, from the smallest classroom choice to the biggest goals we set, shapes our collective journey.
We encourage everyone to reflect on the choices that define us. For students, it's about making decisions that align with their values and aspirations. For teachers, it's about choosing innovative methods that engage and inspire. And for families, it's about the ways we support and nurture our children's growth.
This year we have released our first Strategic Plan and also our annual implementation plan. This plan sets annual targets and actions for us as a school that work towards our strategic goals. In this newsletter, you will find stories and highlights of how the power of choice makes a difference at Ko Taku Reo and how we work towards our goals.
We'll also share inspiring examples of students taking initiative, teachers embracing new approaches, and whānau contributing meaningfully.
“He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.”
"What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people."
This proverb emphasises the significance of our choices regarding how we treat and value others. It reflects the idea that our choices impact us and those around us, highlighting the profound importance of our decisions in shaping relationships and communities.
As we embrace this theme, remember that every choice is an opportunity to grow, learn, and positively impact those around us. Let's make choices that reflect our commitment to excellence, kindness, and community.
Thank you for being a vital part of our journey. Here's to another term of thoughtful decisions and exciting possibilities!
Ngā mihi
Denise
