Student Highlights from Manawatu in 2021

Glenys Shore - Resource Teacher of the DeafNovember 7, 2021

What a year we have had here in the Manawatu region. Our students have enjoyed many successes at their schools, kuras and Early Childhood centres.

Our year began with a fantastic KIT Day held at the Esplanade in Palmerston North. It was great to have our learners from Manawatu, Tararua, Whanganui and the Horowhenua regions come together and catch up with their friends. We also enjoyed coming together in Term 2 for a fantastic Arts focused KIT Day in Whanganui where we learnt about the art works and paintings around the town as well as developed our creative skills at the Sarjeant Art Gallery. Because our students come from all around the Central North Island, KIT Days are always a great opportunity to connect with deaf or hard of hearing learners and make new friends.

Our students in the Manawatu region have enjoyed many successes in their mainstream schools and kindergartens during 2021. This has included sporting achievements, values awards, academic success in gaining NCEA credits and learning new skills as they begin their learning journey in Early Childhood.

Enjoy the highlights from some of our students and their achievements in 2021 here in the Manawatu area.
