Pere Shines at Cross Country Competition

Lauree Armstrong - Resource Teacher of the DeafJune 19, 2024

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it is Super Pere!

Pere is beginning to experience success in his running and becoming known as ‘Superman’. After coming first in his age for Cross Country at Otakiri School, he continued to progress through the events in the Te Moana o Toi area. Despite the terrain, weather and tough competition, he puts in 100% effort and perseveres through all challenges. The beaming smile with his 6th place at the Eastern Bay of Plenty, shows the pride and growth in his confidence.  His next adventure is the Bay of Plenty (BOP) Cross Country Competition, where he will be cheered on by his supportive whānau. We wish Pere all the best for this event and are proud of his hard work and determination. The whakataukī below encourages us not to give up; this perfectly represents Pere and the reason behind his growing from strength to strength in all he does.

Kia mate ururoa, kei mate wheke (Fight like a shark, don’t give in like an octopus).
