Emergency Drills

Andrew Ducat —

On Wednesday next week we will be practising our revised lockdown and evacuation drills.

Earlier in the term I mentioned that the Board of Trustees have been working with a company that specialises in working with Schools and Early Learning Centres to develop robust  Lockdown and Evacuation systems.

Following several meetings, we have developed a comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (EMP). The Plan recognises the uniques of our school and serves to complement procedures currently in place along with implementing new procedures that are best practice. The information contained within our EMP aligns our schools' response with current procedures for both the emergency services and Civil Defence.

The next step we need to take is to carry out an emergency drill.  To ensure that all aspects of the emergency drill are carried out, including our communication processes,  we will be sending an alert to the community. Please note that we will make it clear in our communique  that we are conducting a drill.

Here is the message that we will be sending out;

Konini School is conducting a lock down exercise. This is how you will be notified in the first instance, should a lock down occur at the school. Please do not come to the school or phone the school as you will not be attended to. Your assistance and cooperation are appreciated. All further updates will be provided on the school website.
