COVID 19 - How worried should I be?

Andrew Ducat —

I am not a health expert but have read the information shared with me from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. From all that I have read, the chances of catching the Coronavirus in New Zealand is still very low.

Little has changed in what we are doing as a school around personal hygiene measures. Teachers regularly remind children about washing hands, sneezing and food hygiene. Mr Manase and the cleaning team are making sure hand sanitisers and soap dispensers are well stocked and that our cleaning processes are maintained to a high standard.

The teaching team are not actively talking about COVID 19 (Coronavirus) and the feedback I have received is that the children are not asking questions.

I am sure your children will have questions. The following link may give you some suggestions on how you can explain the concept of a virus and how it can spread - link

Here are two links I found informative for general information about COVID 19 (Coronavirus):

I have also attached the most up to date information sent to me from the Ministry of Education.
