Managing our school roll

Andrew Ducat —

We need your help as we start our planning for 2021

Back in 2017 the Board of Trustees had a robust discussion about the school roll and what would be the ideal roll size for our school so that we are able to offer a wide range of opportunities for all our students while at the same time, foster whanaungatanga (a sense of belonging).

After looking at historic trends and reviewing the geographical size of our 'smallish' school zone we reached a consensus that 450 pupils was the optimum school roll for Konini.

Being aware of in zone future enrolments is very challenging as we do not know of pre-schoolers who live in our community, unless they have a sibling currently attending Konini. This then makes it challenging each year to work out the number of out of zone children we can offer spaces to.

Over the last two years we have only been able to offer out of zone spaces to whānau who already have a child attending Konini. All other out of zone applications have been placed on a waiting list.

So, to help us plan for new entrant enrolments in 2021, please come in and fill out your enrolment forms as soon as possible. This is for whānau who live in zone and out of zone who have children currently attending Konini. If you have a neighbour or friend who has a pre-school child and lives within our zone, ask them to phone the school, or pop in asap to enrol their child.
