Welcome back!

After a long break it was awesome to see so many happy faces on Tuesday. I was reminded of what a special time the start of the school year is with excited children, relieved parents and rejuvenated teachers - all pleased that the 2021 school year is finally underway.

A special welcome to all our new pupils and parents. On Tuesday we welcomed 24 new learners who either turned 5 over the holiday period or recently moved into our community. Our start of year school roll is 442, the highest it's ever been and reflective of our growing community.

We also welcome two new members of staff - Ms Vanessa Fowles and Ms Reese Gleeson. Vanessa has joined the Y5 team while Reese has joined the Y6 team.

Here's a reminder of key dates to take note of this term;

Friday 12 February (tomorrow) - Mihi Whakatau

Join us at 9.30 am to welcome our new learners, staff and families to the Konini whānau.

Wednesday 17 February - Community Picnic and meet your child's teacher

At the start of each school year we host an informal whānau get together at school. It is a great opportunity to meet other families as well as your child's teacher. The evening starts at 5.30 pm when families gather on the terraced seating by the field with picnics and/or fish and chips. We will be running a sausage sizzle and you will also be able to buy ice cream and coffee from mobile food vendors. The bell will ring at 6.30 pm and 7.00 pm to signal the two time slots you can visit your child's class. If you have three pupils at Konini - you might have to pop in and catch up with one of the members of staff on another occasion.

Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 March - Parent/Teacher Meetings

This is the first of three parent/teacher meetings we host each year. The first meeting of the year gives each member of staff a great opportunity to learn more about your child. More information about the evening meetings will be sent home shortly, including how to book your meeting slot.  Please note that on Wednesday 3 March school will close early at 1pm.

Easter holidays

This year, Easter falls within term 1. This means that school will be closed from Friday the 2nd to Tuesday the 6th of April.

Last day of term

Term 1 finishes at 3.00pm on Friday 16 April.

Start of term 2
