Defibrillator Fundraiser

Mandy Vanderwee —

The senior students and their teachers have recently recognised the importance of having a defibrillator on-site at Konini School.

This is not only for the school but for the community as well. We have a vast amount of people coming through the school at events (which we hold regularly) and if our fundraising is successful it will be in a lockbox for the community to access in an emergency. There is a defibrillator at Glen Eden Intermediate but we have learnt the optimal time when looking after someone having a heart attack is 4 minutes. We have timed the trip to Glen Eden and back, it was 12 minutes. Too long to be helpful for the patient in need! Our plan is to have cake stalls, Pyjama day (a gold coin donation), a sponsored Mathathon and to hold raffles. We have very kindly been donated a gift basket from Christine Dunn from The Hair Shop and would appreciate any other goods that you are happy to donate. Check out the Thermometer we have made to keep track of our fundraising efforts, just outside the office. Thank you, everyone, in anticipation of your support. The Senior Team Trudy Ingoe, Jess Richards, Andrea Diprose, Rachel Johnson and Lisa O’Malley.
