Mid-year Reports

Andrew Ducat —

We have pushed back the date for when mid-year reports will be sent home to whānau.

As you can imagine, a lot of time is spent by staff carrying out assessments and observations in preparation for writing reports. I did not want this to be the case for the teaching team as soon as they returned to work after the 7-week break from class-based teaching. I wanted the focus to be on rebuilding relationships and re-establishing strong learning routines. I also encouraged staff to use the Arts curriculum as a means to rebuild strong relationships through creative thinking processes. The key message shared with staff was to enjoy the learning programmes that they had planned and not focus on assessment and tests.

This means that the mid-year reports will be sent home in week 3 of term 3, instead of at end of term 2. The report itself has also been modified, with the tracking of pupil progress removed. This information will be shared at the Learning Conferences scheduled for later in Term 3.
