Road Safety
Earlier in the term the Board of Trustee's Health and Safety subcommittee raised concerns about anecdotal reports of near misses which involved pupils walking to school and having to navigate their way across a number of busy junctions.
That initial conversation has grown and we are now looking at road safety improvements over a wider geographical area.
I have been on contact with Auckland Transport and they are considering installing raised crossing at the Annison Ave and Paewai Rd crossings, which is a positive start. Other issues do need to be considered such as speed restrictions, the widening of footpaths, safer crossing points at other busy junctions as well as planning for cycle ways.
We have been fortunate to have a parent on the PTA who has produced a detailed plan to address the issues mentioned above.
Before the PTA progress any further they would like to seek feedback from the local community. The next PTA meeting will be held in the staffroom at 7.00pm on Thursday the 25th of October.
