Andrew Ducat —

Welcome back whānau

It is wonderful to write this newsletter knowing that we nearly have everyone back at school. Since re-opening, we have observed a steady increase in the number of children returning to school and anticipate the trend to continue next week.

For Dottie and Bea, they were so excited about returning to school that they decorated their fence with rainbows and welcome messages. Just like your children, I am sure Bea and Dottie were a little apprehensive. I think the excitement of being able to see their friends and their teacher again in-person helped everyone overcome first day nerves.

Apart from a bit of much-needed rain this week, the weather has aided our transition from home learning to classroom learning. This week it was great to see the library reopen and Kapa Haka to recommence. We now have two Kapa Haka groups due to its popularity - Year 5 and 6 and Year 3 and 4.

Thank you to Samantha, Noelle's Mum, for the beautiful taonga you gifted the school earlier in the week. What an amazing treasure we have been gifted!

Thank you all for your ongoing support of our start of day and end of day protocols.

Reminders for next week;

  • Please arrive at school between 8.30 am and 8.45 am.
  • Next week we are encouraging class programmes to start at 8.50 am - our normal start time.
  • If you need to collect your child earlier than 2.45 pm, please pop into the office.
  • Subway and Sushi orders are available - contact the office for more information.
  • We are encouraging everyone to take home all their litter from morning tea and lunches - including orange and mandarin peel.
  • Ms Vanderwee will be sharing another virtual assembly tomorrow for our community to enjoy.
  • Don't forget that school will be closed on Monday as it is a public holiday.
