The Queen visits Konini
The Konini Commonwealth Games were graced with the presence of HRH at the opening ceremony which took place on the last day of term 1.
On Friday the 13th of April we held an exciting Top Team Day that was themed around the Commonwealth Games, at our amazing school. We normally have the Top Team Day in the fourth term of school but it got changed to a different time.
We had more than 30 teams made up of all the different ages across the school. Each team represented a country from the Commonwealth. My country was India and did you know that India has the biggest population out of all the Commonwealth nations?
We all dressed in colours from our countries and waved our home made flags during the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was pretty cool because there were lots of items just like the real Commonwealth Games. We had relay runners who carried in the Queen's message, we even had the Queen present - to read her own message, we had an athlete and an official read their oaths and we even had a dance from the KC Crew to finish the ceremony.
After that we got to take part in lots fun and tricky activities where we competed against other countries. We were given marks for participation, effort and team work at each activity and the winning country was Soloman Islands.
