Accelerating Maths Achievement for Year 7-8 Students

Rachel Whalley —

Kōtui Ako VLN (Primary) is excited to announce a new online programme designed to accelerate achievement in Mathematics and support Year 7 and 8 students, working towards the new New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) Phase 3.

What's the programme about?

  • Targeted Support: We're focusing on helping students who are finding maths challenging, ensuring they get the personalised help they need.

  • Engaging Learning: Our programme uses interactive online lessons taught by experienced NZ registered teachers, making learning fun and effective.

  • Flexible Access: Students join timetabled live 30 minute online sessions. They also work on independent activities at times that suit their school's schedule.

  • Curriculum Alignment: We cover key areas of the NZC e.g. Number, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, and Statistics & Probability.

  • Personalised Learning: Diagnostic assessment data will be used to identify each student's strengths and weaknesses, to target the learning to the right level of challenge.

What are the benefits?

  • Flexibility: Students can learn from anywhere, anytime.

  • Tailored Learning: Students focus on the areas they need help with most.

  • Interactive Content: Engaging lessons make learning enjoyable.

  • Cost-Effective: Online delivery reduces costs.

  • Teacher Support: Teachers receive ongoing professional development.

Why is this important?

This program supports government priorities by:

  • Promoting equity in education, ensuring all students have access to quality maths education.

  • Utilising digital learning tools.

  • Addressing the achievement gap in numeracy.
