Tino pai rawe Halfmoon Bay Digital Technologies students!
Tino pai rawe to Halfmoon Bay Digital Technologies students for their creative mahi making quizzes, stories and apps during Te wiki o te reo Māori.
Students coded with Scratch block-based programming language. They made sprites (characters) and backgrounds - some with beautiful Rakiura / Stewart Island images.
Instructions tell others how to use the code. The quizzes display the vocabulary first, then ask questions and give feedback "ka pai!" (correct) or else show the correct answer.
Congratulations to Sayla and Betty who were awarded VLNP Principal Awards. Sayla's award is for her innovative bilingual translator app that prints or speaks any phrase the user selects in Te Reo Māori using the Scratch translation and speech functions. Betty's award is for applying her VLNP Te Reo Māori class language skills to create a short story, customising sprites and adding beautiful local background images. Tino pai rawe!
