Philosophy - Introductory Ethics

Rachel Whalley —

Explore ethical issues and develop critical thinking skills as we discuss a range of cases and ask questions such as: 'Is it ever okay to lie?' and 'Should animal testing be banned?'

This class will introduce ethics through a range of cases and philosophical discussions. Students will be encouraged to think for themselves and refine their views with clarity and care. Students will learn to:

  • Listen and understand diverse ideas, applying the principle of charity.
  • Investigate values and moral intuitions.
  • Communicate effectively in philosophical discourse.
  • Argue in respectful and productive ways.

Students will share their thinking and learning through Zoom discussion and Google Classroom.
