Tuia te Wāhi Ngaro

I acknowledge the almighty creator

Tuia ngā kaitiaki o te rangi... o te whenua... o te moana

I acknowledge the guardians of the sky, of the land and sea

Tuia rātou te hunga wahangū... e tangi apakura tonu nei... e tangi apakura tonu nei

I acknowledge the many loved ones who have departed… we lament… we lament

Ko rātou te hunga wairua ki a rātou... Ka tuia ki a tātou te hunga ora e tau nei

May the loved ones rest in peace… May we the living rejoice

Haumie... Hui e... Taiki e

Bring all acknowledgements together… Bind them… Let them be
