Sunny, our Korean teacher, is excited to be teaching her native language here in New Zealand with the VLN Primary School.

The North Asia Center of Asia-Pacific Excellence (NA CAPE) is pleased to invite entries for the THINK-then-TALK (South Korea) video competition. This activity aims to engage New Zealand students and provide them with a platform to share, exchange and gain knowledge of Korea in a creative way.

Student Cooper has been attending VLN Primary online Korean classes with eTeacher Sunny Yang. He entered the Korean Education Centre speech competition and was very pleased to win a prize.

In the last school holiday break I joined a delegation of NZ teachers and principals on a study tour of South Korea. This was a great opportunity to learn more about Korean society, culture and education system.

This week is Korean Festival week and we were proud to have one of our students participating in the Korean Education Centre speech competition and also to hear that the Korean Education Centre and CAPE will be continuing to support our Korean classes in 2019! We still have opportunities for free Korean classes in Term 4 - we would love to see some of our younger children participate with their teachers!

Students learning Korean with the VLN Primary and students from Kiwitea School recently enjoyed a Korean Cultural Day to expand their knowledge of the culture. Students experienced a variety of traditional events, such as games, fan making, calligraphy, playing instruments and savouring Korean foods.

Rosmini College’s Over the Back Fence project continues to push their GLOBAL CONNECTIONS to promote an understanding of cultural differences, languages, and being a global student.

Teachers Nicki Fielder and Sunny Yang experienced Seoul first hand and made valuable connections during a week long trip attending the event.

VLN Primary ALLiS teachers had their first PLD session of 2017. They not only explored the tools for teaching online, but shared their experiences unique to teachers who work in the online environment.
