Teacher Development Aotearoa Summit 2024
Nex Kōtuitui was represented at the third annual TDA Summit in Wellington.
This year's summit was held at Te Papa, in a different format from the previous two years.
The theme was Growing Leadership for NEX with a keynote on Leading Well in Complex Times from Brendan Spillane, an ex-Principal who is now Executive Coach for a range of professional organisations.
There was also an NZCER workshop on measuring impact and data collections, plus an MoE panel on changes upcoming at the Ministry.
As previously, there was time for Nexes to mix 'n' mingle — one of the most enriching aspects of time spent at the summit.
There are 36 Networks of Expertise in Aotearoa, ranging from subject specialist groups to leadership in rural schools. Each Nex has been established to facilitate, enhance and support professional learning and development, with support from the Ministry of Education via TDA.
The annual summit is a chance for the Nexes themselves to network and find commonalities and collaborative scenarios.
TDA in 2023 developed a Hub for Nexes to communicate with each other more directly. As a result, the growth and successes of the Nexes overall has been facilitated by closer connections, and shared expertise.
Thanks go to Rachel Whalley, Tewaiehu Savage and Sue McCarthny from the Lead Team for attending.
