NZ teachers new to using Zoom for teaching and learning had a hands on session about hosting a session in Zoom. Here's what was covered:

  1. Using the Zoom toolbar to manage audio (mute/unmute), video (on/off if very limited wifi),

  2. Managing participants (mute-all option, mute, remove),

  3. Chat to converse and to send links (meeting setting student-anyone or student-teacher),

  4. Sharing the screen,

  5. Using the whiteboard (participant annotate option on/off),

  6. Recording the session.

Students may need to be taught options 1, 3 and 4 above or supported with a Zoom student guide.

Teachers can connect with NZ online teachers via free PL NEX Kōtuitui group.

Choose settings for who can join, screen sharing, and chat to suit you and your learners. Here’s Zoom’s recommendations to secure online classrooms. Kia kaha!
