Matariki Ahunga Nui: Ahead of Matariki

What can we do to prepare ourselves and our ākonga for Matariki this year? Join us in these sessions next week on June 4 or 5 at 3:30pm

These Nex Kōtuitui PLD sessions will focus on how to prepare for Matariki, a unique celebration of our natural resources and how we can make connections to it in our everyday lives.

As kaiako we can remind our ākonga that Matariki is a time to remember the passing of loved ones; to celebrate the present with food, games and joyful activities; and to look toward the future by planning ahead.

Note that the two sessions run on Tuesday and Wednesday, and that the sessions are repeated, so you can choose one that suits your timetable.

There will be a chance to share and interact also: please bring these optional items with you: something from your garden (if you have a vege patch!), a picture of a loved one who has passed this year, and small pebbles for an activity you could share with your ākonga. These could be man-made or natural.
