Sean Wansbrough Tumuaki

LBS —

Sean Wansbrough is proud to be the principal of Ladbrooks School, where he brings over 25 years of experience in education, including a decade of leadership in small, rural schools. An advocate for student success and community engagement, Sean is deeply committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where children can thrive.

Outside the classroom, Sean’s life is grounded by three key passions: his whānau, vegetable gardening, and the mighty game of rugby league. His family is at the heart of everything he does, and he draws strength and inspiration from his close-knit whānau. When he’s not at school, you can find him tending to his vegetable garden, a hobby that not only brings him kai but also teaches valuable life lessons about patience, care, and growth. And, of course, Sean is a lifelong rugby league fan (go the mighty Kiwis!)— he brings this into his leadership, where teamwork, discipline, and resilience are always front and centre.

Sean’s leadership philosophy is rooted in the belief that education is about more than just academic achievement—it’s about building relationships, cultivating curiosity, and instilling a love for learning that lasts. As the principal of Ladbrooks School, he remains dedicated to serving the students, whānau, and community he cares for.
