NO U TURNS NEAR OUR SCHOOL when children are around.

Dot Agnew —

Please help us keep children safe when coming and leaving school grounds.

This morning another concerned parent has noticed that people continue to make U turns close to the crossing and are even going up on the footpath.

Clearly this is a safety issue and with the number of vehicles in parking spaces the ability to see children on pathways is obstructed. For this reason our interpretation is that the practice of doing a U turn outside school at peak flow of pedestrian times is contrary to the road code which states

Making a U-turn
You are normally allowed to make U-turns, as long as the road is clear in both directions and it is safe to do so.

Please do not U turn when children are arriving or exiting school under any circumstances. When a  U turn is needed, our suggestion is to  drive past the school and do your turn after the Hayes Rd intersection or after the Robinsons Rd intersection if traveling northward.  Please also pass this message onto grandparents and other people who collect/drop off your children.

Let's all work together to make this crossing safe for everyone.
