This was a great chance for our tamariki to try sports they might not have tried before.

Welcome back to Term 2. We have had a great 1st week back at Nga Puna Tapuwai. Our tamariki come back from holidays with lots of stories to share and a readiness to settle back into work. The cooler mornings and warm days have also helped with outside learning, cross country training and of course break times.
The start of term is a good time for a few reminders. Children should not be at school before 8:30am, unless they have choir, sports practice, or a trip that requires and early start. Children need to be picked up between 3:00pm and 3:15pm each day. We do not have before or after school care and teachers have meetings, PLD and prep both before and after school. We know that hold ups happen, so please let us know if you are going to be late.
In Term 2 and Term 3 we do not require students to wear school hats. School uniform is covered in this newsletter as a separate article and introduces our new school jackets which are available for ordering.
Road patrol and driver responsibility is also covered in this newsletter. We ask for you to all follow the rules in the interests of child safety and ensuring we don't have an awful accident as happened in an Auckland school last term. Our tamariki are young and it is our job to do the right thing even if it adds a few minutes to our day.
We have great learning planned for this term with a focus on 'within my place in the world'. Our Ako focus for this term is; Learn Together: We show aroha, e aroha ana mātou.
There are many community opportunities coming up, with cross country, William Pike trips, Hangi and supporting learning in class. Every Monday we meet as a kura when the bell rings to share our school karakia and a waiata. The purpose is to come together at the start of the week, spend time as a whole school and acknowledge the week ahead. You are welcome to join in with this and we have included our school karakia as part of the newsletter.
We will also be blessing our new Ruru Learning Community and our tamariki are already practicing for this. We will share more information about this shortly.
We have two teacher only days planned for this term. We have scheduled these to coincide with Queens Birthday weekend. An opportunity to have an extended long weekend.
For many of you, winter sport starts this weekend; enjoy. Have a great weekend.

Visit this articleThe Community Dental Service has advised that a mobile dental clinic is due to visit Ladbrooks School, anticipated to be here in about a month. no date has been locked in yet as any accurate schedule is hard to predict. It depends on numbers of children needing examinations at schools on the list before ours and dental staffing absences. The service has asked in the meantime to make the following information available.
