Kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face) Parent Teacher Meetings

Leamington School —

Meetings to share valuable information and insight regarding your child

Kanohi ki te kanohi Term 3 Information for parents

In term one this year we held Kanohi ki te Kanohi (face to face) parent-teacher conversation meetings. The purpose of these initial meetings was for parents to share with us valuable information and insight about their child. These were very successful, therefore we would like to provide you with another opportunity to come and talk with us. We want to stress that you (parents) do not have to wait for these planned “events” to talk with the teacher. Our ideal scenario would be that these conversations are catch-all events for those families who had not yet had an opportunity to catch up with the teachers earlier or during the school day. Parents should only make a booking if you feel there is something to discuss as it is not an expectation for you to attend.

These are not your traditional Parent Teacher interviews, so to help provide clarity please read the following details.

Kanohi ki te kanohi - Face to Face Conversations:

  • Parent/teacher conversations will take place Week 4, Tues 14th Aug between 3:20 p.m. and 7 p.m.

  • These are optional to attend.

  • These are for parents to update your child’s teachers with any new information about your child; any challenges and aspirations about what you would like to see achieved over the remainder of the year.

  • It is also for any new parents as an opportunity to share information for the first time based on the questions below.

  • Conversations will centre around important questions only (any other matters to be discussed at an alternative time).

  • A response form is optional to return prior to the conversations.

  • A creche will be available for families.

  • Each meeting will be ten mins in total.

How to make a booking:

Parents can make a booking online through the school interview website:

www.schoolinterviews.co.nz Please use the code cyh43 to enter our school booking site.

Bookings are open Monday 6th August 3:00 pm and will close Monday 13th August at 3:15 pm.

The focus of these conversations is to allow you as parents to:

  • update previously shared important information about your child that aided in helping us to understand them better and expedite the formation of closer relationships;

  • provide new information that may be useful to form goals for the remainder of the year.

Focus questions and considerations:

We value this time together and want to maximise the opportunity. Therefore, we would encourage any parents to have given prior consideration to the following, which these conversations will centre around;

For families who have joined our school during the year or were unable to attend the Term 1 session

  • What are the most important things we need to know about your child to help us support them?

  • Have there been any experiences in the past that we need to know about?

  • What are your top two priorities for child at school this year that we should know about?

  • If you were able to decide the type of activities, workshops, hui (meetings) you would like to partner with us to further support your child/whanau - what might they be?

For families who attended the Kanohi ki te Kanohi meetings at the start of the year...

  • What are the most important things about what is happening for your child we need to know that will help us continue to support them?

  • Have there been any experiences this year that we should know about?

  • What are your top two priorities for child at school for the remainder of this year?

  • Is there anything new you would like to share?

  • If you were able to decide the type of activities, workshops, hui (meetings) you would like to partner with us to further support your child/whanau - what might they be?

If you prefer to answer these questions prior to the conversation meetings please either use the link which will be posted on your child’s class Facebook page or obtain a paper copy from the office. All responses will go directly to the child’s teacher.

Kind Regards
