Leamington & Matamata Go Head-to-Head.

Leamington School —

Four seasons in one day did not dampen the spirit.

Today Leamington hosted students from Matamata Primary in a battle of the turf/field/court. The event enabled all those representing their school to pull on their winter sports uniform for the final time this season and despite the weather, the teams all put on a great display of skill, heart, and sportsmanship.

No school was able to walk away with the bragging rights they sought. With two wins for Leamington on the turf in hockey, two wins for Matamata on the field in rugby, and a win apiece for each school on the court in netball it was a draw. Both schools walked away wanting more.

Leamington teams look forward to attending Matamata Primary in 2019 for round two of a greatly contested battle of the codes.

On behalf of all our winter sports athletes, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have contributed to a fantastic season. Code organisers, coaches, managers, umpires/referees, sponsors, taxi drivers, half-time orange cutters, supporters you are the heart of Sport and without you it just would not happen.
