Pukeko: Adventures & Challenges
Pukeko take on the wild...
Pukeko spent 3 days in the wilderness of waipara in week 6. Our tamariki have been put through their paces with a wide variety of challenges. These included a blind trail, river walk, raft making, hobo stoves, water slide, an incredibly deep pond, kayaking, sky sailing, rifles and archery. A flavor for every fear! Here's what we found...
The blind trail and raft making aspect of our camp was exciting. We were blind folded from camp and walked to the pond where we made a raft from rope, planks and tires and carried it to the pond. Some of us sank and some of us swam - it was scary but super fun!
On the last day we went on a river walk, we skimmed rocks, caught eggs and made tiny rafts to have a race.
We also got to cook on some hobo stoves which are big cans with fire underneath to cook pancakes. There was a big fire at one point but we were all safe and continued to cook.
The water slide was massive! We all went down and Mr Scott made a massive explosion (Beatrice, 2021).
One of the favorites was kayaking where we went in off a cliff and threw sponges at each other / the leader.
Another activity was the sky sailing, we found this the scariest but really enjoyed trying to reach the pinecones.
Rifles and archery were also incredibly popular where we found a few amazing marksmen in the class.
We had such an amazing time thanks to Whaea Jenny and the parents. We could not have done it without them and have made many fantastic memories as a result. It has set us up for a fantastic year with bonding and involvement.
