Leading Innovative Future Focused Technology (LIFFT)
LIFFT - Year 7/8 Technology 2018
We are up and running with LIFFT! This semester we are doing Food Technology and to tie in with our school theme, we are creating salads from around the world. Last week Tania began with introducing a Pacific Island Salad, along with a presentation of important information that we needed to know about the Pacific Islands. The students learned new skills in the art of cutting, dicing, segmenting and slicing different fruit, vegetables, meat and cheese. Students are going to be presenting on different countries over the next few weeks into next term. We will be sharing our learning with everyone at our cultural celebration during the week of Matariki in term 2.
Hannah - We learned about interesting food combinations, some being really yummy, others not so nice. It was really good learning about cutting the fruit in right way. My group had oranges and we had to segment them.
Sydney - I liked how we tried different foods mixed together. I enjoyed all of it except the blue cheese, it tasted odd with apple. I also liked working in a group.
Sean - I enjoyed peeling the apples because it was messy and fun. I liked my group, talking with them and working with them. I liked everything in the salad except the blue cheese. Phoenix was hilarious, he loved it all and ate about 9 bowls!
Eamon - I enjoyed peeling the grapefruit. I liked being in a group and being able to learn and chat during the session. I didn't like the salad. It tasted odd, I think it was because of the blue cheese. I do like most of the ingredients on their own though.
