From the Principal
Our penultimate newsletter for the year!
What an amazing day we had on Wednesday for the annual Sports Spectacular event! Thank you to all of the parents who provided transport and well done to all of our learners who showed Involvement and enthusiasm in all of the different events on offer.
It is great to have our swimming pool open for instruction and play. If you haven't yet purchased a card then please check out the article in this newsletter for further details.
Planning is well underway for our end-of-year prizegiving. As mentioned previously, it will be held in the Amberley Pavillion (Tinshed) due to our hall being used as a classroom. The prizegiving will start at 6.00pm sharp and we would like all students to attend this special celebration. Please feel free to bring along members of your extended whānau! Our board will be running a free BBQ beforehand for those who want a feed before the prizegiving. Look out for an invite coming soon to confirm these details.
There have been some recent close calls reported by our community with students traveling to and from school. Please support us to reinforce the messages we give out around cycle safety e.g. wearing a helmet, safe crossing across roads, and being visible to traffic.
Among other things, we are planning our class groups for next year. Usually, this is an easy process in a small school with children moving through in a predictable year-level pattern, however, due to variation in the number of some year levels, we are planning some changes for next year. If we are planning to move your child into a class group that would not have been the expected group then you can expect some communication from us over the next few weeks. All students will meet their teacher for next year at our ‘meet the teacher transition' on the afternoon of 15th of December. At this session, they will receive a welcome letter, stationery list and take part in some activities with their new class group.
All of our teaching staff are returning next year with the exception of our learning support teacher Jenny Chisnall. We are going to miss Jenny greatly and sincerely thank her for her amazing contribution to our school over the past 8 years!
Thank you to those who contributed to our recent community survey. Our board will use this feedback to form our next strategic plan so watch this space closely. Congratulations to Amber Walker and Lisa Paenga who won the family passes to Hanmer Springs.
Kia pai to rā!
