Tuaono (Number 6)

Today we are learning about counting and numbers.

The children last term learnt about counting to 10 (juniors) and counting to 100 (seniors).  Numbers are relatively simple to remember when you understand the pattern.

Tahi  = 1

Rua  = 2

Toru  = 3

Whā  = 4

Rima  = 5

Ono  = 6

Whitu  = 7

Waru  = 8

Iwa  = 9

Tekau  = 10

Tekau mā tahi = 11

Tekau mā rua  = 12 ... and so on (tens then ones, linked with mā)

Rua tekau  = 20

Toru tekau = 30 ... and so on

Give it a go and perhaps watch the following videos to help.  Ask your child to show you how they count to 10 or 100.
