Important Health and Safety Reminders

Sean Bailey —

Your support around these areas would be appreciated, thanks

Sunhats

As part of our Sun Protection Policy and our requirements as a Sun Smart School, our learners and staff are required to wear a school sun hat during term 1 and 4 whenever they are outside.

These can be purchased from the NZ Uniform Shop. Non school hats and caps are not to be worn. If there is an issue with purchasing a black school bucket hat, please see Sarah, Helen or Tracy in reception.

We are no longer able to supply loan hats due to our continued growth. If your child does not have a hat to wear, they play under the verandahs during connect times and Kai time.

Arriving at School

We are seeing an increasing number of learners arriving at school just after 8:00am. Although it is awesome to see our tamariki keen to get to school, our staff don't officially start their supervision until 8:30am.  Arriving from 8:15am is a more appropriate time to get to school and get organised. Learning Landscapes can be accessed from 8:30am.

Riding Bike and Scooters to and from school.

Over the last week while I have been on Kea Crossing patrol, I have seen some unsafe cycling and scootering practices especially when crossing roads to get to school. Can you please remind your child(ren) to stop and walk their bike or scooter across the road (exactly what we expect on the Kea Crossing). Can you please also check to make sure cycle helmets are checked regularly and the straps are secure.

Safety Vests

We continue to be one of the few schools in Selwyn that has consistently ensured all our learners are visible in the community by wearing their safety vest to and from school. We would appreciate your support around this important procedure in our Safe Travel Plan.
