Troy Landrebe —

As we sit here looking back at the term, we realise what an incredible journey we have been on. Pandemics, lockdowns, partial lockdowns, new beginnings, new principal appointment, google meet and zoom meetings. Added to this online learning and then restarting school. The resilience of our staff and learners is remarkable.

Next term we will have a chance to welcome our new staff members Blair and Nicole. Blair begins his journey next term as our new Principal. As you will be aware he comes to us from Linwood Ave School. If the comments from their parent page are anything to go by, we are very lucky to have him. We also welcome Nicole who will start in the Kahikatea space. In her interview, she talked about starting bootcamp sessions for staff. Sounds like fun!

With Blair's tenure beginning next term, we still need to farewell Sean and acknowledge everything he has done for LWG. It has been his vision which has been driving our school. Once we are able to sort a date, we will reorganise his farewell.

In week 2 next term, whanau will be able to attend our Ako conferences. This is an opportunity for you to celebrate the learning that has happened over the past term. We encourage all families to make a booking and come in and see examples of awesomeness.

Next term we have a focus on the health curriculum. Areas we will be covering will be road safety, bike safety, personal safety and the road to sexuality. We will also be holding parent information sessions (watch this space).

We would again like to thank everyone who has supported the two of us this term while we are between principals. We have appreciated the kind words.

Finally a huge thank you to Margaret Dodds. Margaret was supposed to be enjoying her retirement with her family in the warmth of Australia. Margaret is a very experienced principal (she was the foundation principal of Waitaha) who has been willing to share her expertise by supporting our staff and learners. We wish her the very best for what ever the future holds. Hopefully she will be able to visit her children and spend quality time with them soon.
