Police Visit

Jen Hodgkinson —

Ben & Charlie won a ride to school in a police car at the recent LINK Quiz Night. Here is Bens story...

Putting my school bag on I hear my mum say “Don’t ride your bike just wait a bit”.

“Why?” I shout back.

“It’s a surprise!” .

My brother said “We're going to school in a police car!!!”.

“You ruined the surprise” my mum shouted.

As soon as I heard the words come out of my brothers mouth I just turned to jelly.

Opening the door for the police is not something you get to do every day, but today I’m not getting in trouble. We greet each other and then one of them asks “Do you guys want to see the dog?”

I don’t think I know anyone who would say no and I don’t know if I have ever said no, so I’m pretty sure you know what I’m going to say.  I say “yes”.

They walk us around the back of the dog car and then he lets the dog out of the cage. The dog was so cute, we gave him pats. We put him back in his cage, got in the car and drove to the park and me and the dog played ...

‘TUG OF WAR’ (yes I know the capitals and making it bold is overkill - I did it cause I can) that was really fun and the dog was strong so when my brother tried he got pulled to the ground. We all got in the car, put the dog in the cage and went to school.

We arrived at school and drove straight in. As soon as we pulled over the whole whanau space came over and sees the car and then we got out and one of the policemen got the dog out of the car and the dog did some tricks (I don’t mean scooter tricks Tay). Then the other policemen put on big arm protectors and the dog ran as fast as he could and jumped then bit the arm protectors and pulled the policemen to the ground. After that the policemen told us about a taser and a rifle. Then we took some photos and went to class.

Now that was a heck of a way to go to school!!
