Welcome to LU Netball

Welcome to Lincoln University Netball Club. We are a open club to all keen players who are interested in trialling for our Club, not just University students.

We are exceptionally lucky having the support from the staff at LU Gym/Whare Hakinakina, the training facilities on campus and the support from the University’s scholarship programme. The club has a great culture and we look forward to welcoming new players and supporters each year.

The club commenced in 2000 with 5 teams playing social netball at Lincoln Netball Centre. This included a men’s team.

In 2002, 3 teams entered into the Christchurch Netball competition and in 2004 the University A team was promoted to the Premier 1 competition.

In 2023 we had two teams in the Premier 1 competition for the first time in the clubs history.  The A team went on a trip to Melbourne (first international trip by the club) during the year and played against the University of Melbourne and another club.   The A team made it into the CNC final against Technical but finished second.   They won the previous 3 years in a row so we have a proud history in the grade.   Our B team managed to play well during the season and we will retain two teams in the Premier 1 competition.   We also have a C team that plays in the town competition in Senior 1 and this grade will move indoors to the new facility at Nga Puni Wai in 2024.   During the winter terms we run a mixed social netball league at the courts on campus, in 2023 we had 10 teams in this competition.

Our club has a number of scholarship players who have been selected for representative teams including the Silver Ferns (Jane Watson) and Tactix (Charlotte Elley). We also have several players who when finished their studies continue to play for the club.
