Tau Hou hari! Greetings for the new year!

Our Matariki family fun night was well attended by many whānau, last Thursday evening. The moon was out in its full glory shining down on Linwood Avenue School.

There was so much to see and do.There was the Tug of war, Matariki photo booth, Matariki quiz, soup, star weaving, and biscuit decorating, not to mention the beautiful art,on display in the rooms. 

A huge kia ora to all our tamariki, but also to our talented staff who had all gone the extra mile.We are so lucky at Linwood !

It has been great to see whānau taking advantage of our hui ako. These have been very popular with whānau enjoying the opportunity to see and hear about their child's learning.This information should make a difference when reading reports which will be published on line today. If we don't have your email we will be unable to share your child's report.

We have a few exciting new initiatives for our school coming up In Term 3.

  • Our school library is set to open in the first week of Term 3. The library committee has some exciting events planned.
  • We are setting up a 'School Travel  Plan 'group- (details in a separate part of this newsletter)
  • We are are looking to set up a PTA group to support the school (details in a separate part of this newsletter)
  • We will be inviting our Māori whānau for our first Whānau hui 
  • We will be setting up a fono for our Pasifika aiga
  • As a community we will all be involved in reviewing our school vision,values and aspirations for students

It is with sadness that the Board of Trustees has accepted the resignation of Ms Harriet Burke. Ms Burke's last day will be Friday 9 July. We wish her all the very best for her new position.

Next week is the last week of Term 2. School finishes on Friday 9 July at 3pm. The new term starts on Monday 26 July. Next term hot lunches will be part of our school lunch programme which will be exciting.
