Te Huarahi/Linwood Avenue School —

The Te Huarahi Linwood Avenue School logo symbol is a combination of Maori and Pasifika pattern designs. Traditional frangipani inspired the pattern shape for the four outer petals. Each petal represents a value; be strong, be brave, be your best and be respectful. The figures on the petals represents students embracing each value.

At the centre of the frangipani shape are three koru. These represent whanaungatanga. Whanaungatanga translates to relationships, kinship and sense of family connections - through shared experiences and working together we provide families with a sense of belonging.

The red and dark green are based on the school colours and enhance the multi-cultural feel of the logo. The light green represents the environment, nature and the importance of looking after our surroundings.

This is based on a heart shape with three koru symbolising relationships and their respectful nature.

Be Your Best / Kia Manawanui

This is based on the poutama shape used in tukutuku panels. It symbolises striving for excellence in learning and life. The arrow shape is pointing upwards.

Be Brave / Kia Maia

This is represented by the mangapore which is associated with courage, among other things. It moves upward in a positive direction.

Be Strong / Kia Kaha

This is represented by the toki (adze). It is a symbol of strength and courage in times of adversity. The koru pattern symbolises growth.
