Trevor Proctor —

Week 8, term 1

Gosh where has the term gone. With only 2 weeks to go I would just like to thank you all for getting your children to school during the term - it certain helps with our planning and delivery when most of the children are at school.

Thank you as well for your acceptance regarding the teacher strike last week. We only had a couple of children that needed looking after and it is appreciated by all here.

One last thing - we are experiencing a lot of phone calls and parents picking their children up before 3pm. Unless there is an important reason for doing this, please stop. The last 30 minutes or so of school is very important, it is a time for teachers to reset the learning from the day - get the children up to date as to what is happening the next day and a social farewell between friends, very important stuff. So please, if you can wait till 3pm. Thanks

Couple of things coming up on the horizon.

Next term

- we welcome the return of Gretchen after she has been on her sabbatical.

- there are two teacher only days - the first being day one of the term - this is so delivery of the new curriculum can be viewed and discussed by teachers. The Ministry has given us 2 teacher only days this year to do this.

- the second is week 5, 26 May this is our professional development in reading and writing - the results of these days and the teaching that ensues has shown our akonga are making good progress in these areas.

Don't forget the disco coming up next Friday - notices for this have gone home but there will be reminders in the coming week .
